AL Gore or EL GoreEverybody in the educated world pronounces the name Al Gore - except for the Germans, they 'believe' it is EL Gore and insist that is the correct way to pronounce it. Historically the Deutscher Michel always had problems with foreign tongues. There was even a time when he flatly refused to speak another language but his own. Some people in Germany say "es hat sich so eingebuergert" (it has become the custom). There is some truth in it, it totally reflects the "dozy" mentality of the German Michel. He also is a copycat and easily repeats what he has heard from others and in the media. The German media is of course the biggest culprit in spreading this kind of faulty speaking. N-tv broadcasts its news almost "half" in English, but they fail to see the difference even in a two letter word. The sad thing is that the whole of Germany follows suit - A classic example of the Deutscher Michel.
